AP Scores

Salem State University subscribes to the Advanced Placement Program of the College Board. Advanced Placement (AP) examinations are open to students who have participated in Advanced Placement courses in high school. Credits will be granted, generally, in subject areas in which scores of 5, 4, or 3 are attained, subject to academic departmental review and approval. Credits will not be granted for scores of 2 or 1. Freshman applicants planning to attend Salem State should indicate Salem State as a score recipient when they take their AP exams.

Transfer students will be required to have official copies of their AP scores submitted within their first semester of enrollment in order to receive advanced placement credit. Information on specific AP credit awarded can be accessed at https://www.salemstate.edu/campus-life/student-navigation-center/registrar/credit-examination.

AP scores for incoming students are usually received in July and processed once they come in but if you did not name Salem State University as a recipient when the test was taken, you will need to go to the AP website to order your scores: https://apscore.collegeboard.org/scores

You can check your Advanced Placement credits through your Navigator account. From the home screen, go to the quick links on the left and go to “My Academics” then click on “View my Transfer Credit Report”. If you have further questions about your Advanced Placement credits, please see your academic advisor or transfer services.
