Policy Statement
Graduate students matriculated in a master's degree program may concurrently enroll in a graduate certificate program with approval of the program coordinators of both programs and the filing of appropriate paperwork.
Procedures
1. Student must first be officially matriculated into a master's degree program.
2. Student meets with program coordinator of the master's degree and the graduate certificate program to discuss matriculating into a graduate certificate program along with the master's program.
3. Student files a Statement of Intent form with the Registrar's Office. The program coordinator for both the master's degree and graduate certificate programs are required to sign off on the form.
4. The Registrar's Office will add the student into the certificate program in the student administration system.
5. Student completes a plan of study with the program coordinator for the certificate program.
6. The signed plan of study is distributed to the Registrar's Office, School of Graduate Studies and the program coordinators for both the certificate and the master's programs.
7. Once a student completes the required courses for the certificate, the student applies for the certificate with the Registrar's Office.
8. The Registrar's Office will review the student's record, and award the certificate.
