How do I connect to eduroam?
Visitors to Salem State from other eduroam Member Institutions will not need to sign up on the guest wireless. Instead, they will simply choose the eduroam wireless network. Wherever you see "eduroam" appear in your list of Wi-Fi networks, you can get online. Use your university wifi authentication at any eduroam hotspot in the world and join instantly and securely.
If connecting to eduroam for the first time please include the full email such as email@example.com in your username.
How do I configure a compatible device for eduroam?
As a golden rule, you need to configure your device only exactly once, as instructed to by your institution. From then on, you can use all eduroam hotspots world-wide without reconfiguring anything. Exactly how to configure your laptop or other handheld device for eduroam will depend on which device(s) you are using and your institution's local identity management configuration.
If you are encountering trouble connecting to eduroam or if you would like to verify your computer is correctly configured to use eduroam please download and run the configuration assistant tool (CAT) from eduroam (https://cat.eduroam.org).
Salem State University must be selected as your institution because your association with the university is what grants you access to use eduroam. Do not select your current location. Visitors will need to select their associated institution, not SSU or location.
The CAT tool may also possibly fix other network misconfigurations.
All configuration instructions are specific for the issuing institution. It is not helpful to follow configuration instructions of other institutions; the settings are different from institution to institution and you will very likely misconfigure your device if trying third-party configurations.

What is eduroam?
eduroam (education roaming) is a secure, global wireless network service shared by hundreds of participating academic institutions and offers secure internet access at any other eduroam participating location. This new service has two main components: a new wireless network on our campuses and reciprocal access to this wireless network wherever it is being broadcast around the world, allowing you to use the wireless services of member institutions simply by selecting the SSID/wireless network name "eduroam".
Is eduroam safe to use?
eduroam is based on the most secure encryption and authentication standards in existence today. Its security by far exceeds typical commercial hotspots.
