Salem State utilizes the SQL server database architecture for data warehousing. The data warehouse is comprised of data from multiple sources, but the primary data sources are PeopleSoft Student Administration/Campus Solutions and PeopleSoft Finance. While these two data sources provide the core of the data, it is augmented by many other sources that contain either student related information or financial related information. Paired with the data warehouse are two primary reporting tools, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI. SQL Server reporting services provides prompted reports that are primarily tabular in nature. Power BI, which is a application within the Office/Microsoft 365 suite, provides interactive data visualizations.
