Did you know Windows Defender comes pre-installed on newer WINDOWS operating systems?

Unfortunately, many of these systems also include a trail version of an Anti-Virus program which usually requires a subscription.Windows Defender is FREE. Use these instructions to uninstall the trial programs and enable Win Defender.


Open your home-screen on Windows 8 and type "Control Panel" .

You will see it listed under the settings option.

On the bottom left of the Control Panel, you will see "Uninstall Programs". Click “Uninstall Programs”.

Locate Norton or McAfee and click “Uninstall”

Completely uninstall the trial version of AV (Norton/McAfee etc....)

Then restart your computer.

Go back to your home-screen and type "Action Center".

Here you can Enable "Windows Defender".

Go back to the home-screen and type "Windows Defender".

Now you can Update "Windows Defender".

Once updated you will be compliant with the new NAC requirements.
