Advising period is from October 12 – November 3

Registration begins November 1 (learn when you can register in Navigator)

Check Navigator to see if there are any holds on your account. These will need to be resolved before you can register, but you can still be advised.
Making an Appointment

Check your Navigator account to find your faculty advisor:

Navigator > Academic Progress > My Advisor

Check your SSU email occasionally for an invite to schedule an appointment from your faculty advisor. Make sure you make an appointment during the advising period – many faculty are using Navigate Campaigns

Schedule a meeting

Add the meeting date to your calendar (with time and location)

Don’t be late or miss your appointment!
Preparing for your Advising Appointment

Review your Degree Tracker in Navigator to list the courses you must satisfy for your general education, support courses, major and free electives, Create a list for your advising appointment

Bring a laptop, iPad or notebook, if possible, to your meeting for notetaking or to review your Degree Tracker with your faculty advisor/build a shopping cart

Think about the track you want to take for the semester. Start thinking about how many credits you want to take, how many classes you want to take, and whether you want to be full or part time. If you don’t know, that is okay! Our advisors are here to help you.

If switching your major, you need to contact Academic Advising – make an appointment via Navigate to be advised for your new major

Schedule an “Advising Prep Session” meeting via Navigate with a peer advisor in academic advising or attend a workshop (check your SSU email for an invite)

Always run your Degree Tracker after you register for courses to make sure you are on TRACK!
