Navigate vs Navigator

This is a resource to better understand the difference between two systems, with very similar names, used at Salem State University.

For all Salem State University systems, students should never share their SSU ID # and password with anyone.

Navigate

A comprehensive, University-wide student success platform that links faculty and staff to students in a coordinated care network designed to help proactively manage student success. Navigate (not to be confused with Navigator!) can be accessed by students via an app or website and helps get students from orientation to graduation. Navigate helps you stay on top of important dates and deadlines, explore your major, and quickly connect you to your faculty advisor and other offices and resources you may need.

Navigator

The student portal where you will manage all your official student business. Whether you are registering for classes, reviewing your bill or financial aid, or applying to graduate, you can do all of that within this portal. Both applicants and current students are responsible for regularly checking their portal for updates and to do items that require action. If an office at SSU requires you to “take any action”, you will see a to do item(s) appear within the “tasks tile” of your portal, providing specific instructions.
