Returning from a Leave of Absence Checklist

Students who are returning to the university after a leave of absence are encouraged to follow up on the important items and deadlines below: 

Financial Aid  

In order to be considered for financial aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each academic year at studentaid.gov. 

Holds and Tasks 

To view your holds and tasks, please use the following instructions: 

  1. Log into Navigator.
  2. Once at the Student Homepage, click on Tasks.
  3. Upon clicking Tasks, any To-Do list items will appear. Click on the arrow next to the task to view detailed instructions.
  4. To view holds, click Holds on the sidebar. You will see the hold's name and the department that placed it. Click on the arrow next to the hold to view detailed instructions. You may be re-directed to your Task list to complete an item.
  5. To resolve your hold, please click on the row/ hold you want to view. Here, you will find the hold details. You may be re-directed to your Task list to complete an item. 

If you have any questions about a specific hold, contact the department that placed it, as they are the only department that can assist with or resolve/remove it. The department's information can be found by clicking on the department name under Department. 

Housing  

Students interested in living on campus must pay their housing deposit through Navigator  and are required to complete the online housing application on Salem State's Housing Portal (deadlines vary for each semester).

Make an Appointment with a Professional Advisor! 

Professional advisors in the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) - Academic Advising are available to meet with students to assist with their transition back to the university, virtually through Zoom, email or in person.

We strongly encourage students to download the Navigate Student app to schedule an appointment. Students can also sign up through the desktop version of Navigate. Instructions on how to schedule an appointment through Navigate are below:
