Step-by-step instructions to access the Navigate Student website (different from Navigator!) and schedule an appointment with Peer Tutoring. These instructions are for use with a desktop/laptop computer and not a mobile device.
Log in to Navigate from the Salem State website
- From the Salem State website, select "Sign In" in the upper right-hand corner.
- Enter your Salem State University username in an email format (S0123456@salemstate.edu).
- On the next screen, enter your Salem State University password.
- If it is your first time logging in, you will be prompted to set up an authentication phone number.
- Enter the code sent to the phone number you provided.
- Once signed in, Select "Navigate" from the black bar at the top of the screen.
- On the Navigate Login page, select "Login with your school account."
- Enter your Salem State Username (complete email address), then select the "Next" button.
- Enter your password (same as your email password), then select "Sign In".
- A successful login will bring you to your Navigate Student Dashboard.
Schedule Your Appointment
- From your dashboard, select the "Appointments" link from the menu on the left.
- Select the blue "Schedule an Appointment" button located in the upper left corner.
- From the New Appointments page, select the following items from the dropdown menus.
- What type of appointment would you like to schedule?
- Select – "Peer Tutoring" from the dropdown menu.
- Service Field - select one option from the dropdown menu under the service field.
- Option 1 - "General Academic Support" - This service is not course-specific. A tutor will help you with general organization, time management, study skills, and other academic strategies but can't help you with specific course concepts.
- Option 2 - "Study Skills" - selecting this option will create a new field titled "Course".
- Option 3 - "Review Course Concepts" - selecting this option will create a new field titled "Course".
- Option 4 – "Referred by Professor/Advisor" - selecting this option will create a new field titled "Course".
- Course Field – If you select a service of "study skills" - "review course concepts" - or "referred by professor/advisor", a new field titled "Course" will appear.
- From the dropdown menu, select the course/class for which you are requesting tutoring. Only your current courses/classes will appear and are unique to each student.
- Select the blue button labeled "Find Available Time".
- On the scheduling page, select a Date and Time from the availability on the right side of the screen.
- To exit this screen, select the "Start Over" link located at the top left of the screen.
- Select a time to progress to the appointment confirmation screen.
- What type of appointment would you like to schedule?
Confirm Your Appointment
- From the confirmation screen, review your Date and Time.
- To pick another Date and Time, select the "Go Back" link located at the top left of the screen.
- In the field labeled "Would you like to share anything else?" – Add any comments or questions you have for your tutor. This information is optional. You can leave it blank, but the information you provide will be helpful to your tutor.
- Email Reminder Checkbox - You will receive an email reminder at your Salem State email address 24 hours before your appointment. Uncheck the box to opt out.
- Text Message Reminder Checkbox - You will be sent a text message reminder one hour before your appointment. Uncheck the box to opt out.
- Phone Number for Text Reminder Field - This field is pre-populated with the cell phone number on record. If you wish to opt out of receiving a text message reminder, delete the phone number in this field.
- Select the blue button labeled "Schedule" at the bottom of the page to finalize your appointment.
- In a separate email, you will receive additional information about your online appointment from Megan Penyack (mpenyack@salemstate.edu).
About Appointments
- Appointments are 1 hour (60 minutes).
- You will receive a confirmation email and text message at the time of booking.
- You will receive a reminder email 24 hours before your scheduled appointment (Opt-Out Option).
- You will receive a text message reminder 1 hour before your scheduled appointment (Opt-Out Option).
