Spring 2021 Courses Exempt from the Pass/Fail Policy

Although the majority of undergraduate classes offered at Salem State during the spring 2021 semester may be taken on a Pass/Fail basis, there are some courses that must be taken for a letter grade. Certain programs tied to external licensure, certification or accreditation may require students to take letter grades. All graduate courses will be graded normally.

The following list reflects courses where students must take letter grades during the spring 2021 semester. This list does not include specific information about support course and major course requirements for majors that have minimum grade requirements.  Students are encouraged to consult with their academic department for more information about their specific requirements.

If you have questions about Pass/Fail grading, visit our FAQ.  For a summary of the temporary policy changes for the spring 2021 semester that may be important to you, visit our Academic Policy Summary site.  For instructions on how to choose a Pass/Fail class, visit our instructions on how to request a Pass/Fail grade.
