Spring 2021 Undergraduate Academic Policy Update

In response to the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on instruction during the spring 2021 semester, the faculty and administration of Salem State have approved the following temporary provisions for all undergraduate students:

Pass/Fail Grades

If you are enrolled in at least six credits, you may take one undergraduate class pass/fail (up to four credits) and can use the class for any requirement (major, general education, minor, free elective, support). There are some courses that must be taken for a letter grade.  All selections will be made online in Navigator beginning in early April, and must be made by May 3, 2021. All decisions are final and will be made before grades are assigned.

Last Day to Withdraw

The last day to withdraw from full semester courses has been extended to May 3, 2021.

Incomplete Grades

Incomplete grades for undergraduate spring and summer 2021 classes will not change to F grades until the end of the fall 2021 semester.

Academic Dismissals

There will be no undergraduate academic dismissals at the end of the spring 2021.  Any student who would have been academically dismissed at the end of the spring semester will be able to continue on academic probation.
