Student Employee Positions in Information Technology

The Information Technology Services Client Support department employs currently enrolled students to work on-campus throughout the academic year in many areas such as:

  • Help Desk
  • Student Tech Support
  • Computer Labs
  • Faculty/Staff Tech Support
  • Switchboard

Applications received during the summer will be reviewed prior to the end of summer session II and will be considered for employment that begins in the fall.

Upon selection for employment, a student employee can continue to work through the completion of their coursework. Student employees are expected to comply with the rules and regulations set forth in the student employee handbook as well as any departmental standards. Eligibility for student employment expires as soon as a student has graduated from the university.

Applicants are required to be: 

  • Enrolled in either an undergraduate or, a graduate student program and currently taking classes at Salem State University. Entering freshmen are welcome and encouraged to apply!
  • Knowledgeable of Windows and/or Mac personal computers.
  • Very experienced with a wide variety of productivity software such as Microsoft Office and a variety of other academic resources.
  • Able to communicate this knowledge to people of all levels of technical understanding.
  • Enthusiastic about improving technical skills, developing professional skills, and be able to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
  • Someone who enjoys working with people and has great communication skills, in person and on the phone.
  • Awarded Work-Study funds, or have indicated an interest in receiving WSF.
  • Able to commit a minimum of ten (10) hours per week for an entire semester. Schedules are prepared based on a student’s availability in collaboration with registered course schedules.
  • Prepared to provide work schedule availability for the upcoming term.
