Facebook Class Pages

Salem State University students are invited to join their respective class page (group) on Facebook.  The class pages serve as vital information-sharing resources - important deadlines and reminders will be shared on the pages throughout the year to assist students in staying on track. 

The class pages are managed by the student success and first year experience office.  Note:  there are a number of fake pages that have been created by marketers/spammers.  FYE strongly encourages students to join the university-sponsored pages as the only individuals able to join are students, family members, and university staff/faculty.

Please note:

  • If a student's Facebook "name" (spelling, etc.) does not match admissions materials, students will receive a private message asking them to confirm their student ID number prior to approval to join the page.  Students should check their message inbox (and message requests folder) if they have not been approved after a couple of days.
  • Family members of students are welcome to join the pages provided they also confirm their student's ID number.

Just opened - Class of 2028 for first-year (freshmen) students starting Fall 2024. New transfer students should join the Transfer Connections page above.  Current upper-class students may join the incoming class pages after classes start in September.

Students are also encouraged to follow the official university-sponsored Instagram Class accounts.  Again, a number of fake accounts have been created by individuals soliciting money.  We strongly advise that students do not connect with those accounts.  Incoming students are encouraged to follow:

Class Page Guidelines:

The "Class of..." groups serve as resources for students at Salem State University to connect to other students, ask questions, and find out about campus events and activities.

Salem State University welcomes the exchange of ideas, questions, comments, and open dialogue on all our Facebook pages. Please note the following guidelines and standards of use:

-When you post on our page, please make sure to follow Facebook's policies and community standards (www.facebook.com/communitystandards), some of which we've listed below and adapted to the Salem State community.

-While this is an open forum, it’s also a family friendly one, so please keep your comments and wall posts clean.

-We will not allow personal attacks or vulgar, abusive, offensive, threatening or harassing images and/or language. This includes creative spellings of swear words or emoticons.

-We will not allow comments that promote, foster or perpetuate discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or mental disability, or sexual orientation.

-We will not allow comments that contain sexual content or links to sexual content.

-We will not allow comments that promote or advertise a person or a business or commercial transaction that has not be previously authorized by the University.

-We will not allow spam. Any subsequent posting of identical information will be deleted and the user will be removed from our community.

-We will not allow comments or posts that disclose confidential information.

-When you participate, you take personal responsibility for your comments, your username and any information provided.

It is our goal to foster a safe, informative and productive environment for our community members. We reserve the right to remove any discussions that do not follow our standards.
