Students who would like additional support regarding general academic skills are encouraged to schedule a meeting with one of the first year mentors in the Office of Student Success and the First Year Experience.
Mentors are available to meet with any student (regardless of class year) to discuss common challenges and guide them through the development of strategies and goals to address those challenges. Students may select any of the following topics to discuss:
- Time Management
- Getting Organized
- Avoiding Procrastination
- Getting Focused
- Study Strategies
- Getting Connected (with a faculty member, student organization, or resource)
Students schedule a meeting by using their N360 account, searching for "Student Success and the First Year Experience" and then selecting "Make a Mentor Meeting" with the corresponding topic. Meetings are held either via zoom or in-person at the First Year Experience Office located on the 2nd floor of North Campus Dining. Meetings typically last around 30 minutes. Students may choose to return for follow up meetings as many times as they would like.
Students who would prefer to gain skills or tips on these topics or more may also join one of the online Student Success Series workshops (30 minutes via Zoom) throughout the semester by viewing the schedule in Canvas OR utilizing the self-guided resources in Canvas.
