How to Vote

Make a plan with Vikings Vote Ambassadors (VVA)!

Visit us in Meier Hall 316A or stop by VVAs around campus. VVAs will be visiting classes, clubs, residence halls, the Gassett Fitness Center, the library, Ellison Campus Center, the dining halls, and more locations around campus.

Voters can cast their vote in multiple ways. Review the options below and make a plan to ensure your vote gets counted!

Vote In Person

On Election Day: Show up at your polling location to cast your vote. Confirm your polling place here.

  • If you are registered to vote on campus, you will vote at the Enterprise Center on Harrington Campus.
  • If you are registered to vote in Salem, but not on campus, please visit us to see where to vote.
  • If you are voting in a city/town other than Salem, visit "Where do I vote?" or visit your respective city/town website.

Vote by Mail

  • Voters can cast their vote through the mail, a secured ballot drop-off, or taking your completed ballot to the Berry IOP office (Meier Hall 316A).
  • Request a mail-in ballot. Your mail-in ballot application must reach your local election officials by Tuesday, October 28 (5 pm).
  • If you are returning it to the Berry IOP, your mail-in ballot must be in prior to the above date, so we can mail it for you.

Vote by Absentee Ballot

While early Vote by Mail ballots are more common, there are special circumstances where you may need to apply for an Absentee Ballot instead.

If you are an out-of-state student looking to vote in your home state, you may be able to request an absentee ballot. Each state varies on who qualifies for an absentee ballot. Please contact us for assistance or directly contact your local city/town clerk.

In Massachusetts, you can vote by absentee ballot if:

  • You will be away from your city or town on Election Day
  • You have a religious belief that prevents you from voting at your polling location on Election Day
  • You have a disability that prevents you from voting at your polling location

Use the Track My Ballot tool to check the status of your ballot. The tracker will show you the date your ballot was mailed, the date it was returned, and whether your ballot was accepted or rejected.
