What Is Verification?
Verification is the process schools use to confirm that the data reported on your FAFSA form is accurate. You might see a note on your FAFSA Submission Summary indicating you’ve been selected for verification, or Salem State will contact you to inform you that you’ve been selected.
Details on the documentation required for financial aid verification are available in your Navigator account. Your To-Do list will show which forms are requested and include a link to download the required documents.
Delays in completing verification requirements will affect your financial aid eligibility and may result in the following:
- Financial holds on your account
- Inability to move into your residence hall
- Restricted access to registration, grades, transcripts, etc.
Documents for Verification
Generally, you will be asked to complete or provide one or more of the following forms:
- Federal Tax Transcript
- Verification Worksheet
- Asset Threshold Form
- Property Verification Form
- Disability Discharge Form
- Prior Degree Worksheet
- Statement of Identity & Educational Purpose Form
