First-Time Sign-in Instructions for Student Employees

Before proceeding with these instructions, you must have an alternate email address on file. That could be your Salem State student email address or another one, such as Gmail. If you have not set up an alternate email address yet, contact the ITS Help Desk to add one for a password reset.

To sign in to your Salem State student employee account for the first time:

  • Go to the Salem State University website.
  • Click on Sign In (top right corner).
  • You will be brought to a Sign In window. 
  • Enter your employee email address as your username/ID.
    • Ex: stu_jsmith@salemstate.edu
  • Click on Next.
  • You will be brought to the SSU Sign In page. 
  • Click on “Forgot your Password?”.
  • Your User ID for the password reset is your email address.
    • Ex: stu_jsmith@salemstate.edu
  • Fill in the security characters and click on Next.
  • Select I forgot my password.
  • Your alternate email will be selected. Click on Email. A code will be sent to your alternate email.
  • Open your alternate email and type the verification code in the box and click on Next.
  • Type in your new password, following the Salem State password rules, and click on Finish.
  • Go back to the Salem State University website and sign in with your new password.
  • You will be presented with a window that states: More Information Required.
  • Click on Next.
  • The next page states: Don’t Lose Access to Your Account.
  • Decide how you want to reset your password and click on Finish.
