How do I get a ClipperCard (ID Card)?

How to get your first SSU ClipperCard, or a replacement:

The ClipperCard is Salem State University’s official identification card and it is required for all students, faculty, and staff. Your first ClipperCard is free of charge (replacement cards will cost you $10 ClipperCash).

Here is how to get your first SSU ClipperCard:

First-time ClipperCard holders, complete the below steps and upload your ClipperCard photo:

Directions:

  1. Download the GET app available here on iOS (link) and Android (link).
  2. Select "Salem State University" from the drop-down menu of institutions served by the GET app.
  3. Login using your Student ID Number (e.g., S0123456) for a login ID, and your Navigator password.
  4. Tap the “more menu” button on the lower right corner, then “settings”, and “update photo”.
  5. Upload the front and back of your existing ID.

(If you don’t have a driver’s license or State ID to add here, you could add mail that shows your name and address, or add two additional photos of yourself to confirm your identity).

  6. Last, upload your New Photo which will be the photo for your ClipperCard.

Photo requirements:

Your ClipperCard photo should be suitable for a government ID photo. No hats, no sunglasses, no photo filters, no obstructions of your face. You should submit a picture that does not crop any part of your face or head. Image file sizes must be less than 2 MB.

To prevent your photo from being rejected, please review our photo guidelines available here https://ask.salemstate.edu/kb/can-upload-photo-my-clippercard.

If the above process gives you any trouble, email clippercard@salemstate.edu.

Here is how to request a replacement SSU ClipperCard:

  1. Fill out this form and follow the directions to receive a replacement ClipperCard.

Orientation Students, Residents and Commuter Specific:

If you are a commuter and you do not attend an orientation, your ClipperCard will be mailed to the address on file with Salem State University (you can confirm this address in your Navigator account). Otherwise, new students will receive their first ClipperCard at Orientation.

All replacement ClipperCards for commuter students will be mailed to the student's home address. All resident students that request a replacement ClipperCard must pick-up during the regular semester at ClipperCard.

Getting a new ClipperCard due to an official name change:

If you have legally changed your name, please complete a change of name request with the Student Navigation Center. Only once this is complete in university systems can you proceed to receive a new ClipperCard with your legally changed name.

Faculty and Employee ClipperCards (includes replacements):

Please follow the instructions above to submit your first photo for a new ClipperCard. If you are requesting a replacement, use the form link above or email clippercard@salemstate.edu:

  • Your ClipperCard will be intercampus mailed to your office location.
  • If you are primarily remote, your ClipperCard can be mailed to your home address.
  • If you would like to pick-up your ClipperCard, please email to coordinate a date and time.

Contractors and Volunteers (Patron Cards):

Please see the office you are hired by for confirmation that you have been entered into the HR system (EMS). We will not be able to supply your ClipperCard until 24-hours after you are hired and approved by HR in the EMS system.

No Third Party Pick-Ups or Inquiries:

We cannot arrange a pick-up on your behalf with any third parties. If you cannot be present to pick-up, your ClipperCard will be mailed to your home address. Likewise, we cannot do business with any third party on your behalf. All questions and requests are to be sent by the cardholder via university email address.
