Urgent Mental Health Services
Call 978.542.8327 to speak with a licensed mental health provider for immediate support, connect you with services and intervene in an urgent situation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a confidential resource. Any SSU community member who is worried about a student’s wellbeing can also use this line to consult and initiate outreach to the student as needed.
If you are a student or are speaking with a student having an urgent mental health concern, you can also call the 24/7 Lahey Psychiatric Crisis hotline at 866.523.1216. If you are not on the North Shore, they can direct you to your regional hotline.
Non-Urgent Counseling Services
If you aren't currently connected with a counselor but you are interested in non-urgent counseling support:
- Phone: 978.542.6413
- Using the health portal:
- Log in using your Salem State ID, with the “S” in front of the number and your regular password
- Use the Messages tab once in the Health Portal
- Select the option to message a counselor about counseling services
Current Counseling Services Clients
- If you have already been in touch with counseling services through the health portal, you can respond directly to your clinician via the Health Portal Messages feature for consultations.
